Jenna Ortega Set to Host Saturday Night Live Movie
Next month, Jenna Ortega will host Saturday Night Live. It has been announced by NBC that Ortega will make her hosting debut on the sketch comedy series on the March 11 episode when she'll be joined by musical guest The 1975, marking the second appearance for the pop band. After the announcement, Ortega shared the news on Twitter while noting, "See you then."
Also announced to appear ahead of Ortega and The 1975 will be Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, which would be the athlete's first time hosting, joined by musical guest and fellow first-timer Kelsea Ballerini. That episode will air live on March 4. It was previously announced that the show would return to NBC on Feb. 25 with guest host Woody Harrelson officially joining the show's Five-Timers' Club. Jack White is the musical guest on that show.
Some of the other recent pairings on SNL to be feature this season include Pedro Pascal and Coldplay; Michael B. Jordan and Lil Baby; Aubrey Plaza and Sam Smith; Austin Butler and Lizzo; and the team of Steve Martin and Martin Short co-hosting with Brandi Carlile as musical guest.
As the titular lead of Netflix's hit show Wednesday, Ortega seems to be one of today's most popular stars. That show has been a tremendous hit for Netflix, rising high as one of its most-watched show in the streaming platform's history. A second season is in the works, an Ortega will return as Wednesday Addams. Created by Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, the show serves as a reboot of The Addams Family with the spin of following an older Wednesday as she heads off to a special university.
Ortega can also be recognized from her various big screen roles, and that includes joining the Scream franchise in last year's fifth film. She'll be back to reprise her role in Scream VI, which hits theaters on March 10. Last year, Ortega also appeared in the genre films X and Studio 666. She also had a notable role in the second season of the Netflix series You, though she was unable to return for that show's third season because of her commitments to Wednesday.
Catch Ortega hosting SNL on March 11, 2023, on NBC. The episode will be made available for streaming on Peacock along with past episodes of Saturday Night Live on March 12.
